Yet repacks live in a gray zone. Copyright holders, filmmakers, and crew deserve recognition and fair compensation; artists shouldn’t be erased in the name of access. When repacks bypass licensing, they can undercut efforts to build sustainable regional film ecosystems — fewer restored prints, fewer re-releases, and diminished incentives for preserving film heritage properly.
