The film takes place in the present day, where the United States Navy is conducting a fleet exercise in the Pacific Ocean. The exercise is disrupted by an alien spacecraft, which is discovered to be of extraterrestrial origin. The aliens, who are hostile, begin to attack the naval fleet, and a small group of sailors, led by Lieutenant Alex Hopper (Josh Lucas) and Petty Officer Quaid (Adam Foil), must band together to stop them.
