The film is based on the 1960s gothic soap opera of the same name. It tells the story of Barnaby Collins (Johnny Depp), a wealthy playboy who falls victim to a vengeful curse cast by his former lover, Angelique (Eva Green), a beautiful and malevolent witch. The curse turns Barnaby into a vampire, and he finds himself confined to a coffin for 196 years. Resurrected in 1972, Barnaby must navigate a world vastly different from his own, all while trying to win back his lost love, Carolyn (Chloë Moretz).
