The film follows Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), a paleontologist; Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), a paleobotanist; and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), a mathematician and chaos theorist, who are invited to visit the park for its grand opening. Alongside Hammond's grandchildren, Lex (Ariana Richards) and Tim (Joseph Mazzello), they embark on a tour of the park, which quickly turns into a desperate fight for survival when a power outage allows the dinosaurs to escape.
