The movie is based on the 1974-1976 TV series of the same name. The story follows a family - father Paxton (Will Ferrell), mother Maggie (Kristen Wiig), and their son Charlie (Kyle Chandler) - who get stranded in a mysterious and unexplained "land" filled with dinosaurs, reptilian creatures, and other prehistoric beings. The family must navigate this strange new world and find a way back home.
