The season introduces us to Reese, a former CIA agent who is rescued by Finch from a near-fatal situation. Finch, a brilliant computer scientist and billionaire, has created an advanced artificial intelligence system known as "The Machine" that can predict crimes before they occur. Finch and Reese form an unlikely partnership to use The Machine to prevent crimes and protect the innocent.
