After graduating from college, Slim joined his family's business, Construciones y Desarrollos Inmobiliarios, S.A. (CIDISA), a construction and real estate development company. He quickly proved himself to be a shrewd businessman and took over the company in 1966. Under his leadership, CIDISA expanded its operations, and Slim began to diversify his investments.
