The film takes place in the 1930s and follows the story of Paul Edgecomb, who works on death row, also known as the "Green Mile," at a Louisiana prison. When John Coffey, a giant of a man, is brought to the prison, Edgecomb and his team are surprised to discover that Coffey has a gentle and kind demeanor, despite being accused of murdering two young girls.
