The film is set in Paris, where a rat named Remy, with an exceptional sense of taste and smell, dreams of becoming a chef. Remy's culinary skills are unmatched, but his aspirations are constantly thwarted due to his rodent nature. One day, he befriends Linguini, a klutzy and awkward young kitchen worker at Gusteau's, a renowned Parisian restaurant. When the restaurant's head chef, Skinner, plots to take over the establishment, Remy and Linguini form an unlikely alliance to create exquisite dishes and save the restaurant.
